Basic Boost Controller TLE 8386-2EL
TLE 8386-2EL block diagram
The TLE 8386-2EL is a boost controller with built in protection features. Its main function is to increase (boost) input voltage to a larger output voltage. The TLE 8386-2EL can be used for example in a SEPIC or FLYBACK configuration for cold cranking. The switching frequency is adjustable from 100kHz to 700kHz and can be synchronised to an external clock source.
The TLE 8386-2EL features an enable function, which reduces shut-down current consumption to < 2μA. The device's current mode regulation scheme provides a stable regulation loop, maintained by small external compensation components. Current peak and voltage overshoot at startup are limited by an integrated soft-start feature with external components for adjusting limits.
This IC is suited for use in harsh automotive environments and provides protective functions such as output overvoltage protection and overtemperature shutdown.
