Voltage trackers are similar to voltage regulators except they do not have an embedded reference voltage building block. They thus offer cost, design flexibility and power dissipation benefits. Trackers are ideal for complex system designs with multiple voltage supplies, applications with remote sensors and applications where the main power supply must be isolated from a short circuit on an external load.
