New PROFET™+ Family - Benchmark Robustness and Diagnostics in Modular Packages

Infineon has now launched its next generation of discrete smart high-side switches - PROFET™+. The first devices are dual-channel drivers ranging from 20 mΩ up to 180 mΩ RDS(on) in a PG-DSO14 exposed pad package. The family is especially designed to drive light bulbs and LEDs in the harsh automotive environment.

The devices provide state-of-the-art diagnostics and protection features. High current sense accuracy means even the smallest loads such as LEDscan be detected. In addition, these devices offer benchmark robustness against short circuits. An identical footprint across the entire family gives designers maximum flexibility. They are free to change loads and devices without major modifications to the board layout.

The complete PROFET™+ family will ultimately consist of single and dual-channel devices ranging from 8 mΩ up to 180 mΩ RDS(on) and will be rolled out over the next 2 years.

  • Very high robustness against repetitive short circuits (100 k cycles)
  • Highly accurate proportional load current sense for diagnostic feedback on even the smallest loads (LEDs)
  • PWM capability up to 200 Hz
  • Very low standby current (<0.5 µA)
  • Pin-compatible in PG-DSO14 and PG-DSO8 exposed pad packages
  • RoHS & ELV compliance
  • 12 V grounded high-side loads from 5 A down to 0.5 A (permanent/channel)
  • Automotive and industrial applications
  • All types of resistive, inductive and capacititve loads
  • Loads with high inrush currents such as light bulbs
  • Loads with low currents such as LEDs
  • Replacement for electromechanical relays, fuses and discrete circuits
