New PROFET™+ Family - Benchmark Robustness and Diagnostics in Modular Packages

Infineon has now launched its next generation of discrete smart high-side switches - PROFET™+. The first devices are dual-channel drivers ranging from 20 mΩ up to 180 mΩ R_DS(on) in a PG-DSO14 exposed pad package. The family is especially designed to drive light bulbs and LEDs in the harsh automotive environment.

The devices provide state-of-the-art diagnostics and protection features. High current sense accuracy means even the smallest loads such as LEDscan be detected. In addition, these devices offer benchmark robustness against short circuits. An identical footprint across the entire family gives designers maximum flexibility. They are free to change loads and devices without major modifications to the board layout.

The complete PROFET™+ family will ultimately consist of single and dual-channel devices ranging from 8 mΩ up to 180 mΩ R_DS(on) and will be rolled out over the next 2 years.
