In applications such as synchronous rectifiers in SMPS systems, motor drives and DC/DC converters, high power density and high efficiency are the major driving factors. Moving from TO-220 to SuperSO8 reduces space requirements drastically and enables a huge increase in power density. Offering three times lower parasitic inductance than TO-220, SuperSO8 enables optimum switching performance and the highest efficiency in DC/DC converters and motor drives. Lower parasitic inductance also reduces spikes in the system and minimizes design effort. Reduced switching noise and improved EMI make SuperSO8 ideal for SMPS and other industrial applications.
With up to 100A current capability per device, SuperSO8 is the perfect choice for high-current applications such as motor drives. The large contact area between the lead frame and your board ensures low thermal resistance. Two SuperSO8 devices can replace one standard D2PAK - matching thermal and electric behavior but reducing space requirements by more than 50%. Infineon offers the industry’s lowest RDS(on) and the best switching performance in SuperSO8 for the whole voltage range from 30V up to 250V.
