TLE 4678 - Enhanced Version of TLE 4278 Now Available

Image Block diagram and simplified application circuit Image

To satisfy rising market requirements, Infineon has introduced a new linear voltage regulator, the TLE 4678. This new product is an enhanced version of the TLE 4278 offering pin-to-pin and functional compatibility.
Due to new process technology and chip design, the TLE 4678 has up to 65% less quiescent current consumption as the previous TLE 4278 version.

The TLE 4678 is extremely robust against line transients, allowing full functionality during pulses (e.g. load dumps) which, depending on the application requirements, can avoid the use of the input capacitor.

Moreover, the TLE 4678 provides excellent stability with ceramic output capacitors only.

As a result, the TLE 4678 reduces system costs, improves reliability and cuts overall power consumption, whilst keeping pin-to-pin and functional compatibility with the TLE 4278. No or minimal PCB redesign is necessary when using the DSO14 package.

This new product is also available in a new SSOP14 exposed pad package offering improved thermal performance. This further reduces system costs by enhancing thermal dissipation and shrinking the PCB footprint.

The TLE 4678 is produced in the new advanced 8" front end fabs located in Kulim (Malaysia) and Villach (Austria), offering an attractive price point and dual site sourcing.
