Tamper-Proof Smart Meters with TLE4913

Smart meters are a key component of smart grids and an important stepping stone to increased energy efficiency. Fuelled by government regulations, the metering market for private households is moving away from electromechanical meters in favor of more accurate solid-state smart meters. These meters use magnetic fields and so it is important to prevent the system from tampering with external magnets. This is a dynamic market - annual demand in India is already in the region of 20 million units and this is set to grow by around 20% per annum.


The low-power Hall sensor TLE4913 is the perfect fit for the fast-growing smart meter market. It comes in an extremely small package and consumes very low levels of current in internal sleep mode. It is automatically activated when it detects a change in the external magnetic field.
