inTouch - Microcontroller Solutions for Combined Touch and Display Control

Image Color wheel and 7-touch-buttons board with Infineon inTouch Image

With inTouch, Infineon now offers advanced touch control solutions optimized for ease of use in highly integrated industrial and automotive applications. The technology is based on capacitive sensing controlled with a dedicated functional unit which is featured from the new XC82x and XC83x 8-bit microcontroller series. The portfolio includes devices with different Flash sizes up to 8kB, up to 8 analog input channels, various package options and co-processor support.

The high operating frequency of Infineon's 8-bit microcontrollers supports time-multiplexed operations over the same pins. This allows designers to combine touch sensing with control over the LED matrix used in a display. To support this feature, the microcontroller ROM code includes a library. This reduces application development effort.

inTouch is a lot more than just a touch sense controller. Capable of driving up to 50mA directly from the pins, it can also operate stepper motors for instance.

Starting at only EUR 17.99, various development kits are available online. These demonstrate the touch control capabilities and offer a simple toolbox to support initial application development. The kits include various application example codes, e.g. to design touch wheels or buttons in the Flash memory of the microcontroller. The code can be accessed and modified with DAVE™ Bench - Infineon's free development tool chain. Designers can easily build on the provided code, develop their own solution and bring it to market quickly. To read more and order a kit, visit www.infineon.com/intouch.
